AIACHE

Mission
AIACHE aims at the renewal and growth of member colleges as well as the promotion of the quality, value-orientation and social relevance of Indian higher education in general.
Vision
Based on the life and teaching of Jesus Christ the Christian service of education as a process of formation for transformation is inspired by a vision of human kind and the rest of the creation and its destiny drawn from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. The vision gives Christian institutions a recognizable character and sets before their managements, staff, students, parents and the community high ideals of life and service which will inspire them continuously to strive to meet emerging needs and challenges. Moved by this vision the Christian Church in India has been active in the field of education serving the nation in the context of its plurality of religions and diversity of cultures. The member colleges aim at an integral and personalized education of the young. They strive to produce intellectually competent, morally upright, socially committed, spiritually inspired citizens in the service of India and the world of today and tomorrow.
Aims and Objectives
- To promote, in general, sound education in all institutions of higher learning in India in keeping with the heritage and aspirations of the country and the needs of national development.
- To promote gender equality at all levels.
- To promote and undertake research, pure and applied, bearing upon education and the needs of human and national development.
- To undertake on its own and/or to enable member colleges to carry out or assist any programmes for promoting the welfare or the uplift of the people in any rural areas and to undertake or assist any programmes of rural development and to train the personnel for implementation of rural development;
- To collect and circulate useful and worthwhile information, to publish journals, books and other literature and to arrange for meetings, seminars and workshops etc.
- To co-ordinate the work of member colleges at the national, regional and local levels and to promote mutual help and support among member colleges;
- To serve as a channel through which member colleges can unitedly contribute to the formation and execution of the national educational policy and to interpret to the public the role of member colleges in national life.
To collaborate, wherever possible, with other institutions and associations concerned with higher learning in these and other matters as may be approved from time to time by the Executive Board of the Society.
Structure / Constitution
Membership in the AIACHE Society shall be open to all Universities and University-related institutions under Christian management in India, number 350, represented by their respective Heads/Vice Chancellors/Principals. The General Body meets every three years to elect the Executive Board and the office bearers. The management of the Secretariat is vested in the General Secretary who is the Chief Executive of the Association.

The Association also provides services to colleges (liaison, information visits, advocacy, institutional evaluation, legal aid, project assistance, consultancy etc.) AIACHE organizes national, regional and college-level courses, conferences and workshops in various parts of India on topics such as:
Gender Resource Centre (GRC)
Under the aegis of the GRC social development programmes for the girl children, youth and women of the neighbouring villages and slums are regularly organized – such as skill training and personality development programme for women; non-formal education for illiterate and dropout girl children; personality development and sports activities for the youth and a family counselling centre for women.
